Where to Complain About Mortgage Fraud

They have to know, or they can't help. Complain to officials at one or all of the sites listed below. Most government agencies are complaint driven. You must fill out an official complaint if you want action.

How to get attention to your complaint

If you are going to complain we suggest following these simple rules:

  1. Have a five (5) word explanation of your problem ready. Write it down.
  2. Follow with this wording: This is an X type of fraud case involving $x.
  3. This case involves X number of bad people.
  4. If you're making a phone call complaint, right here ask the person: Can we talk now or would another time be better?
  5. Write a four (4) paragraph summary of the problem. Keep it short, sell your problem, don't describe everything. If they want more.... they will ask.
  6. I have X as proof of the fraud.

A simple way for professionals to complain to their state.

Pressure report log

For years, a notable appraisal company has used a lender request log to report suspicious activity to the state agency that oversees mortgage brokers and real estate agents. This has resulted in numerous investigations and prosecutions. If every appraiser and mortgage broker used this log, the mortgage pressure problem would stop.
How to use: Every time you have an illegal or unethical request, fill out the log. Once every 3 months, fax the log to appropriate state agencies. If multiple individuals complain, and the same person or company is on logs supplied by diverse people, the state usually launches an investigation. Perfect way to help your state identify problems.
